If you like to have fun while you do good, come to the SOIL fundraiser for the People of Haiti (www.oursoil.org) today, Friday, February 5th. Live performances by Haitian celeb Rosemond Jolissaint, and our good friends Bajah and the Dry Eye Crew, plus a whole host of DJs. The $10 door charge goes straight to SOIL and earthquake relief, so bring friends and make a night of it!

Already a center of extreme poverty, political and environmental strife, Haiti simply didn’t have the infrastructure in place to withstand the seven-point earthquake that rocked its capital yesterday. Reportedly the biggest in that region in 200 years, this shake has left thousands (possibly over 100,000) dead, prison walls collapsed, hospitals shut down, and a region in tumult.

In an age where twitter can break news of this type of event, it’s impossible to think there’s nothing we can do. Proof comes by way of Haiti native and fedora-loving musician Wyclef who started the Yele Haiti Earthquake Fund for the teck-savvy to lend a hand.
